Josef Rhedins broad background, starting off in the 80´s as a keyboarder/composer in the internationally acclaimed symphonic rock band ”Tribute”, followed by many years of studying composition and conducting at leading music colleges in Scandinavia, grants him a place as the leading conductor in the Swedish crossover scene of today.

Andersson/Ulveaus
For many years Josef has worked closely together with Benny Andersson and Björn Ulveaus. Not only has he conducted their musicals ”Chess” and ”MAMMA MIA!”, but was also asked to do the orchestral arrangement and conduct the recording in Prague of their new song ”Han som har vunnit allt” with singer Anders Ekborg.
”Josef is an exceptionally engaging person capable of getting the best out of an ensemble. It is a pleasure and a privilige to work with him” says Benny Andersson, composer and former member of ABBA.
Crossover conductor
Since debuting as conductor and assistant musical director in the musical Chess (Andersson/Ulveaus) at the Cirkus arena in Stockholm in 2002, Josef Rhedin has quickly become recognised as one of the most exciting conductors on Sweden´s musical and crossover scene.
After the Chess production he has conducted numerous musicals, operas, symhonic concerts and recording sessions, collaborating with some of the most prestigious artists and distinguished orchestras in Scandinavia.

Orchestra manager of Gothenburg Symphony
During one of the Swedish National Symphony Orchestra´s most successful periods, Josef held the position as Orchestra Manager, participating in several international guest performances. This gave him strong leadership experience, an invaluable asset in his current career.
Music education
Josef has studied conducting with Jorma Panula in Helsinki and with Lars Jensen in Copenhagen, composition with Hans Gefors and Rolf Martinsson in Malmö and with Lars-Johan Werle in Gothenburg, music theory with Lennart Hall in Arvika.
International career in rock music
At the age of 16 Josef joined the band ”Open Air Music”, shortly after that
he dropped out of college and has been devoted to music at a full time
basis ever since.
He met bassplayer/composer Gideon Andersson and together
they started ”Tribute”, a symphonic rock band. The setting of the
band varied slightly over time, but for the major part of the time
they had a line up of seven musicians playing a wide range of instruments;
keyboards, guitars, mandolin, flutes, cello, bass, drums and all kinds of symhonic and ethnic percussion.
Tribute toured intensively for several years, giving more than 150 concerts all over Europe; at the Montreux festival in Switzerland, at open air festivals, concert halls and clubs in Germany, Austria, Holland, Denmark and Sweden. Live performances were broadcasted in National Television and Radio in Sweden, NDR in Germany.
They released the CDs ”New Views” 1984, ”Breaking Barriers” 1986, ”TRIBUTE LIVE” 1987 and ”Terra Incognita” 1990 (the last CD without Josef).
In 1987 Tribute lined up with Norrköping Symphony Orchestra for a concert at the Himmelstalund arena, performing music by Andersson/Rhedin commisioned by the orchestra. The concert was a great success and became the starting point for Josefs new career - he left the band to study composition and conducting.
